2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Pouilly-Fuissé by Olivier Merlin, Burgundy
We’ve worked once again with the magical Merlin family to bring you this distinguished and characterful Pouilly-Fuissé. Carefully selected fruit from late-ripening vineyards in Vergisson, Fuissé and Chaintré gives a wine with freshness and energy. This offsets the generous stone and citrus fruits beautifully, combining with subtle oak spice, yielding a complex and layered wine. It pairs beautifully with white meats, seafood and goat’s cheese.

2022 Berry Bros. & Rudd Swartland White by The Sadie Family Wines, South Africa
We’re delighted to work with the legendary Eben Sadie for our Swartland White, a brand-new wine in our Own Selection. Eben has been planting some wonderful new vineyards over the last 10 years. In the future, he’ll use the grapes from these young vines to produce his own signature wines. For now, though, he is working exclusively with us on our Swartland White and Swartland Red.
The precise blend will change from one vintage to another; our 2022 Swartland White is a blend of Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc. The nose is lively, with notes of yellow apple, white flowers and honey. The palate is gorgeous with tart white peach, fine minerality and a hint of tangerine. The finish is fresh and wonderfully pure.

2023 Casamatta Bianco, Bibi Graetz, Tuscany, Italy
This is the baby Testamatta Bianco. It is produced using the youngest vines on the island of Giglio. The grapes are hand harvested and vinified entirely in stainless steel. The fermentation temperatures are kept low, protecting the wine’s fresh, crisp brilliance. The coastal fingerprint is unmistakable, the palate awash with grapefruit peel and lemon peel. Also present is the signature salty, fennel-like refreshment and complexity typical of Bibi Graetz’s whites. You may not have heard of Ansonica (the dominant grape), but you will certainly be pleased you found it.

2021 Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Sébastien Magnien
Anyone looking for a refreshing and energetic expression of white Burgundy would do well to choose Sébastien Magnien's Bourgogne Blanc. It is a delightfully crisp and saline Bourgogne Blanc, made entirely in barrel from 30-year-old vines in the Hautes-Côtes. There is even a touch of sophistication from the struck-match reduction on the nose.

2018 Meursault, Les Vireuils, Benjamin Leroux, Burgundy
The fruit here comes from three parcels: the first is high towards Auxey-Duresses, the second in the middle of the Dessus section, and the third is lower, towards Les Cloux. This is another example of the success of the cooler sites in 2018. The bouquet is lifted and expressive, the palate deep and rich, with precision and clarity. Drink 2022-2027.

2017 Pouilly-Vinzelles, Les Longeays, Jules Desjourneys, Burgundy
Les Longays Pouilly-Vinzelles comes from an east facing vineyard on clay limestone, and a small portion spends time in oak. Bright and nimble, with lemon pith, lemon peel tightening a lightly creamy / silken palate, framed with toasted wood, and finishing with a twist of lemon pith and a swath of reduction.

2018 Auxey-Duresses, En Reugne, 1er Cru, Pierre Boisson, Burgundy
Domaine Boisson-Vadot, run by father and son team of Bernard and Pierre Boisson, is one of the rising stars in Mersault. The philosophy of the Domaine revolves around careful, hands-on vineyard management to coax the greatest potential of each vintage out of the various plots, and low-impact winemaking in the cellars that allows the unique terroir of each vineyard to surface. New oak is very minimal, no more than 30% for the top cuvées, and much more restraint in the village wines and in Bourgogne Blanc.

2019 Bourgogne Blanc, Murgey de Limozin, Pierre Boisson
Aromas of orange oil, wheat toast, pear and white flowers preface the 2018 Bourgogne Blanc Murgey de Limozin, a new lieu-dit bottling from Pierre Boisson that's medium to full-bodied, layered and enveloping, with a fleshy and generous profile reflecting its location not far from Meursault Charmes.

2017 Mâcon-Verzé, Le Monté, Domaine Leflaive, Burgundy
Another new lieu-dit bottling is the 2017 Mâcon-Verzé Le Monté, which derives from a vineyard located above the hamlet of Escolles on a plateau rich in flint, and fully one-third of which was fermented and raised in wood. Unfurling in the glass with scents of pear, pastry cream, smoky and toasted nuts, it's medium to full-bodied, with a broader attack and a more saline finish than the Chênes, though it shares the incisiveness that distinguishes all of Leflaive's Mâcon cuvées this year.
