Berrys' Guyanan Rum 1998, 15-year-old, 46.0%During the 1650s the British introduced the art of distilling to Guyana’s sugar plantations spawning the country’s vibrant rum industry. Within two decades there were more than 300 stills in operation. Today only one survives, Diamond distillery on the banks of the Demerara river.
Deep fruity aromas evolve giving raisin and prune notes. A little vanilla softens the intensity. The palate has some toasted oak notes and balancing sweetness from the fruit. Berrys' Own Selection Jamaican Rum 2000, 13-year-old, 46.0%Amaica produces some of the heaviest character rums in the Caribbean, often with high ester content resulting in rich aromatics and full flavours. This fine pot still example epitomises the fuller style from the island Intense aromas of brown sugar sprinkled bruised bananas, a hint of pineapple and some nice honey notes display.
