Berrys' Guyanan Rum 1998, 15-year-old, 46.0%
Description
During the 1650s the British introduced the art of distilling to Guyana’s sugar plantations spawning the country’s vibrant rum industry. Within two decades there were more than 300 stills in operation. Today only one survives, Diamond distillery on the banks of the Demerara river.
Deep fruity aromas evolve giving raisin and prune notes. A little vanilla softens the intensity. The palate has some toasted oak notes and balancing sweetness from the fruit. Bruised apples and pears come to mind.
