Ready - mature
Description
Ch. Batailley is one of the successes of the 2003 vintage, a famous heatwave year. The wine is clearly at its prime, with woodland and savoury aromas and lingering notes of black fruit confit. The influence of the vintage conditions is presented by the reassuringly solid palate, and the tannins play an important role in supporting the fruit, delivering contrast and delineation. Batailley ’03 is at, or close to, its peak now; it should continue to deliver its singular charms for another four or five years, but do not keep for longer. Brilliant with a sweet and delicate herb-roasted rack of lamb. Drink now to 2025.
